After spending the last three nights in one, I've come to that conclusion. They're GREAT because you know you're being taken care of, but I missed Brad & I didn't have a whole lot to do - bed rest doesn't allow for much exploring. Also - getting someone bringing you a "well balanced" meal three times a day - not too shabby...some of the food...not so good!
It's also weird being only 33 weeks along and hearing all these little baby cries from the rest of the maternity ward - and just HOPING that I'm NOT going to be dealing with that for a little while (keeping the baby in is a GOOD thing at this point).
For those of you who didn't know (there's only been so many things I've been able to do since getting home), I was admitted for some tests on Thursday afternoon because of high blood pressure & protein in the urine (a sign of high blood pressure) and they did a fetal monitor (baby's FINE) and blood work etc, and then decided to keep me in for 48 hours of observation. Once that was over, I was having pain in the area of my liver, so they decided to keep me in for another 24 hours just to make sure everything was ok. High blood pressure, combined with protein and swollen ankles (and MAN are they swollen) are signs of something called pre-ecclampsia - and that is the precursor to ecclampsia where the mother's body goes toxic for some reason, and the only way to save the mother is to deliver the baby ASAP - so the goal right now is for me to keep my blood pressure down, and to be on bed rest until this baby comes out - and hopefully I'll do that for a number of weeks still. 33 weeks is young to be delivering - there's still lots of growth that needs to happen in a baby. 36 weeks is better, 38 weeks is considered full term. SO...all that to say, I'm not going to Toronto, hospitals are boring, and I'd like to stay out of one for as long as possible, Brad is great (still...always) and now I've got to go lie down and put my feet up.
If you're in the area - meals are wonderful - since I shouldn't be cooking. Visits are also great - as they help stave off boredom, but don't expect a clean house when you come. If you're not - prayers are also wonderful!
Love to all of you!

Baby Room's Done
ish...
It's cleared out, and it's got what little stuff we have in it (how much stuff do we need - not lots). Now all we need to do it clean up everything we cleared OUT of the former storage room.
It feels good to have the room done - I'm starting to feel a little more ready to do this now...perhaps even getting a bit excited.
Gotta go!

In Month Eight...
A few new things...
1. Incredibly swollen feet.
2. Slightly higher blood pressure.
3. Pain in the ribcage - GoYi likes to try and take over my ENTIRE body, not just the womb area, I guess.
4. Heavy, Heavy, HEAVY - getting up is becoming quite the effort.
5. Play is over, report cards are over - some of the stress is diminishing.
6. Trip - to Ontario, next week - we're getting close - here's hoping the doctor does say it's ok to go.
7. Booked our maternity ward visit and our prenatal class (labour & delivery - one night). Due date: May 9th. Labour class: May 7th. We keep joking that we're going to be the couple they're using as an example all night... "Now once your water has broken like Deb and Brad's, you'll notice...." So glad we could help everyone else out...
8. STILL an "innie". This is not normal. The doctor said I must have very strong belly button ligaments. I can FEEL them stretching from time to time - kinda odd. But I like being an innie, so I'm not complaining.
9. Went swimming today for the first time. Brad says I was supposed to feel weightless. Didn't. BUT when I got out of the water, I did feel much heavier...so I guess relatively speaking... It was good to hang out with Brad & chat as we swam & walked.
10. I can still touch my toes (in the water). YAY.
11. Anti-heartburn medication is working - so I'm FINALLY not throwing up for the first time since the first trimester - how lovely.
12. Still waiting to hear when Dan & Caryn are having their baby.
13. Speaking of "innie", I can't see it unless I lift up my belly - definitely getting bigger.
14. Lots of trips to the bathroom - minimal results. Brad says "Oh, you have to get rid of another teaspoon eh?"
15. I still have a wonderful husband whom I love a LOT. I am very thankful for him.

NO MORE REPORT CARDS!!!
I finished my last set of report cards yesterday until next year in June! YAY!! How exciting! I'm very glad to be done!
When I finished, I announced it to the staffroom, and one of the teachers there reminded me that I may be done report cards, but I shouldn't rub it in, since I'm the one who's going to be giving birth in a few months! Yeah...that really put me in my place!
I was talking to someone the other day and realized, my due date is LESS than two months away! That means I'm into my 8th month! Doctors keep asking us both how big we were, which makes me wonder how big this baby is going to be (I was 8lbs 6, Brad was 8lbs 3 - this could be a big baby).
Finished the play, finished report cards, almost finished planning for a trip to Ontario in two weeks (with 16 students - no, it's NOT a holiday). Looking forward to March Break next week. Missing the B@ker family trip to Myrtle Beach right now - wish I could be there enjoying company, rather than here teaching.
Life is busy, but rich and good.
Have I mentioned recently I have a GREAT husband?? I do. He takes good care of me, and I love him.
That's all for today, folks!
