Brad & I went for our second ultrasound this week. It was cool to chat with the lady while she was doing the test (although Brad had to wait during that time), then she got Brad & we got to see our baby again together. It's WAY bigger than last time - the picture we got the first time was the whole baby, with room to spare, this one was the head and the top of the chest and that was IT!!
Most parent's to be get their second ultrasound at 20 weeks, we didn't due to poor timing in the transition between our maternity doctors & our regular doctor - he didn't schedule it before, and by the time we got to our mat. appointment we were ALREADY at 20 weeks, so Go-Yi was pretty big. We got to see it's hands & arms, it had it's hands together like it was praying, and we saw it move a little & we saw where it was positioned (head down, legs & arms to the right side of me) but I think it's moved since then, since otherwise I'd be getting kicked in the middle of the night by Go-Yi's back???
They gave us a picture - but it was much poorer quality than the first (which was on photo paper & very clear - with definate highlights & dark areas - this time it was an inkjet print-out and quite dark. Very unfortunate - AND at the hospital, we got the pictures for free. This time we had to debate about how much we wanted to spend to get pictures of our litte one.
So - we read the instructions before we went in, and they stated that one picture would cost $5, four would cost $10, Brad looks at these costs and goes "Man, this baby is just nickel and diming us to death!!" I cracked up! What parent isn't going to shell out for photos of their little baby (although now that I've seen the quality of the printout, I'd think twice before doing it again...), and it's not like we've spent a whole lot on this kid yet (probably the pre-natal vitimins have been the most expensive thing I've bought so far - that and maternity clothes)!!
But yes, nickels & dimes and nickels & dimes - until (according to "studies") we'll have shelled out a mortgage by the time this child is out of the house & married off. I also read this week that kids have gone from getting an average of 50 toys a year, to 500 (almost 2 a day, how ridiculous!) over the past generation of parents. For all you folks out there who want to get our little one something - please - don't send us 500 toys - we'll only pass them along to goodwill - a 900 square foot apartment can only hold so much & kids are just as happy with empty cereal boxes until they're at least 11 or 12 or so - hey - I still like a good Raisin Bran hat!!
Enjoy your day, everyone!

Only 98 Days Left!
It's a little scary to realize that we're into two digits left for my due date! I guess maybe we should look into starting to get stuff for a baby, eh? We got an awesome box from my sister, but somehow I think two onsie's just isn't enough?? There's probably one or two other things we should probably have. Mom's out there - what does someone need to deal with the first few weeks with a baby??
